Event Details

As part of its Big Green Challenge programme, NESTA would like to invite you to the launch of two NESTA reports "Confronting climate change" and "People powered responses to climate change".  The research identifies the importance and value of social innovation in response to climate change and UK citizens' readiness to innovate in order to address the challenge.

The launch will include a short presentation of the research findings followed by a speech by Ed Miliband MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

There will also be an announcement of support and funding for a range of NESTA’s Big Green Challengers, thanks to a new partnership with DECC.

The Big Green Challenge is NESTA’s £1 million prize for community-led responses to climate change. 355 community groups applied to be part of the challenge; 10 finalists are now implementing their plans to reduce carbon emissions in their communities.

The event will be an opportunity for you to share your views, thoughts and insights with us, you will also have the opportunity to meet representatives from the DECC funded projects as well learning more about the importance of community-led responses to climate change. Refreshments will be served from 4.45pm with discussions beginning at 5.00pm.
